US light vehicle sales in March hit a single month since 2007

In March 2013, the US light vehicle sales volume was 1.45 million units, an increase of about 3% compared with the same period in 2012; the first quarter sales volume was 3.69 million units, up 6% year-on-year.

According to Autodata's data, in March, sales of light vehicles in the US market were 1,453,038 units, an increase of 3.4% from 1,404,699 units in March 2012. This is the highest monthly sales since the peak of 1.48 million units in August 2007; In the first quarter, the cumulative sales volume of US light vehicles was 3,689,089 units, compared with 3,467,609 units in the same period of 2012, a year-on-year increase of 6.4%. Although the double-digit ratio has slowed down in many months in 2012, March is usually the month with a higher base.

In March, US car sales fell slightly by 1% year-on-year to 759,172 units, while light trucks (including SUVs and pickups) increased by 9% to 693,866 units.

According to the expected sales volume for the month, the seasonally adjusted annual sales (SAAR) was 15.25 million units. This is the SAAR of more than 15 million SAARs in the US auto market since 2008. In November 2012, it was 15.56 million units, and in December it was 15.38 million units. In January 2013, it was 15.3 million units, and in February it was 15.36 million units.
